Wood, pencil on rice paper and C/BW-print
Dimension variable
Once, at the village entrance parking lot, there was a tree about ten meters tall. Due to new construction works, the villagers planned to cut it down. I suggested to them that if it had to be removed, then let me be the one to do it.
I climbed the tree and cut its branches, attempting to transform it into another kind of existence. Each branch was divided into two ends, combined into a sculpture; the remaining middle length became an indicator of the pedestal’s height. The two parts together represented the total length of each branch. At the same time, I drew each branch, recording their forms and volumes. This project ultimately could not be completed during the graduation exhibition.
