Collector 拾遺者

Collector, 2012
Abandoned objects collected around 2P Contemporary Art Gallery
Dimension variable

A site-specific installation, Collector features a stage-like platform constructed from a diverse array of found objects, including books, chairs, abandoned materials, and squashed potatoes covered in dirt, which sit forlornly on the floor. This arrangement is contrasted with a large pile of wood leaning against the wall, to which various recomposed objects are attached.

Through this metaphorical rearrangement of everyday and discarded items, Tang Kwok-hin explores how “things” are perceived and misrecognized in the absence of the artist. The work emphasizes a durational quality that unfolds gradually through the viewer’s interpretation, highlighting the shifting meanings objects acquire over time when left to exist on their own.
